Incredible value. The grounds are perfect for relaxing. The staff are kind, funny, and very patient with those of us that speak limited Spanish.
Hot tub and pool are both gorgeous and super clean. While the stairs approaching the pool area are a little unfinished, it is clear that improvements are constantly being made everywhere.
The rooms (our room, Treehouse 4) was lovely. It is quaint. It is not luxurious in appearance. It's just very cozy. The furnishings were moreso very nice. The beds are large and comfortable. The lighting is well done. The deck patio is literally in the trees with comfortable outdoor seats and a table for wine and snacks. The shower has better than usual water pressure and is a large, beautiful walk in.
The food here was outstanding. We only ate breakfast here because the valley is famous for its culinary scene. But twice we both had delicious food, good Mexican coffee, either at the outdoor restaurant area which is peaceful as it is adorable, or when the weather prevented eating outdoors, the staff brought everything up to the room. Chillaquilles are highly recommended.
No roads in the area will be winning awards for maintenance. We rented a sedan which, where it lacked ground clearance, made up for it with maneuverability. Dodging potholes (especially after a wine tasting...or two) becomes a friendly competition. The Treehouse grounds were the opposite. Covered parking in a well maintained lot.
We were only there for two nights. The wine we had was outstanding. Truly. The region produces excellent Nebiolo, Sauvignon Blanc, Cab, and Rosé. Many wines are intended to establish an easy palatability. But "reserva" bottles are more about innovation and experimentation. So there is a breadth of experiences suitable for beginners and adventurers. Vena Cava, for example, has a line of natural wines which range from a classic, strawberry bouquet Rosé, to super funky Orange that makes your eye twitch, in a good way. Just minutes away from the Treehouse.
Whatever you do, taste a Nebiolo at Monte Xanic, eat anything you can get your hands on at Fauna, and pray you catch a light rain and cool temps in your Treehouse casita. You'll be as at peace and joyful as the songbirds you're sharing a tree with.
